24 de April de 2026Estaleiro Rio Maguari is progressing with the delivery, throughout 2026, of two additional tugboats, completing the series of three units ordered by Svitzer Brazil. The first unit, the tugboat Svitzer Copacabana, has already been delivered and marks another important chapter in the partnership between the two companies.
The Svitzer Copacabana is an ASD tug from the 2300 Rampart series, measuring 23.2 meters in length, with a top speed of up to 13 knots, a bollard pull of 70 tonnes, and an external firefighting system rated FiFi 1. The vessel is particularly suited to support operations involving liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.
According to Daniel Reedtz Cohen, Managing Director of Svitzer Americas, the delivery is part of the company’s expansion strategy in the country. “We continue to invest in Brazil through the construction of modern vessels at Brazilian shipyards. We still have two more tugboats on order at Estaleiro Rio Maguari, scheduled for delivery this year,” he says.
For Fabio Vasconcellos, Commercial Director of Estaleiro Rio Maguari, the project reinforces the shipyard’s positioning in the sector. “This delivery demonstrates Svitzer’s confidence in our technical capabilities and consolidates Estaleiro Rio Maguari as an important supplier of port support vessels for both the national and international markets,” he highlights.
With the completion of the next units, Estaleiro Rio Maguari will conclude the series of three tugboats, further expanding its contribution to the development of Brazil’s shipbuilding industry.
