30 de July de 2024Estaleiro Rio Maguari has announced the signing of a contract with Svitzer, a global leader in towage services, for the construction of three new azimuthal ASD tugboats from the RAmparts 2300 Series. With a 70-ton bollard pull and equipped with an external firefighting system (Fifi-1), these tugboats are designed to meet the growing demands of port operations in Brazil.
Arjen van Dijk, President of Svitzer Americas, highlighted the strategic importance of this investment: “These tugboats are designed to handle the increasing complexity and volume of Brazil’s maritime operations and will enhance our operational capacity across various Brazilian ports.”
Fabio Vasconcellos, Commercial Director at Rio Maguari Shipyard, celebrated the continuation of the partnership with Svitzer: “We are proud to be part of Svitzer’s growth in Brazil. This contract reinforces the ability of Brazilian shipbuilding to meet the company’s high technical standards.”
Daniel Reedtz Cohen, President of Svitzer Brazil, emphasized the favorable economic context in the country: ““Brazil’s economy has seen significant growth in the green energy and agricultural export sectors and has a key position in the global energy and food supply. We see continuous growth opportunities in the country, and this investment positions us to continue meeting new demands effectively.”
The tugboats, designed by Robert Allan Ltd., will have a speed of up to 13 knots and a total length of 23.2 meters, becoming a crucial addition to Svitzer’s Brazilian maritime operations.
