Rio Maguari and Sulnorte sign contract to build two new tugboats

The Estaleiro Rio Maguari (ERM) has signed a contract with Sulnorte for the construction of two new RAmparts 2300 tugboats, with a static traction capacity of 70TBP (bollard pull) and designed by Robert Allan.

For Fábio Vasconcellos, commercial director, this contract reinforces that ERM is among the select group of shipyards with the capacity to build state-of-the-art port tugboats in the country.

Sulnorte, a traditional port support company, aims to expand its fleet to meet the logistical needs arising from the growth of Brazilian agribusiness. The project will be financed by BNB – Banco do Nordeste do Brasil S.A. (Northeast Brazil Bank, Northeast Fund, FNE Innovation).

“We are proud of these projects, which will give us total confidence to overcome the challenges in the coming years, further consolidating Sulnorte’s presence and quality, while maintaining excellent services to our traditional clients in the main ports along the Brazilian coast,” the company said in a statement.
