Estaleiro Rio Maguari was present at NAVALSHORE, the largest shipbuilding industry fair in Latin America
22 de August de 2023Rio Maguari is featured in Transporte Moderno Magazine: high demand for river convoys for deliveries in 2024 and 2025
23 de January de 2024The Estaleiro Rio Maguari was featured in Folha de São Paulo in an article discussing how agribusiness demand has been driving shipyards in the Northern region, allowing them to stand out from the crisis faced by the naval industry. In the report, our commercial director, Fabio Vasconcellos, discusses the main initiatives adopted by Rio Maguari, which has been dedicated to specializing its activities to increase competitiveness and productivity. The article also highlights the shipyard’s growth and expansion strategy,
“The Estaleiro Rio Maguari (PA) has a positive assessment of the past 12 months, considering that the markets served by the shipyard continue to demand new vessels, especially in inland navigation and port support. The main projects underway at ERM include the construction of dozens of bulk cargo barges for inland navigation, four 70 TPB (gross tonnage) harbor tugs, and two ATB (articulated tug-barge) units for cabotage.
For ERM, the potential for new business is directly linked to the implementation of infrastructure projects and oil exploration in the region, especially the blasting of the Pedral do Lourenço in the Tocantins River, the implementation of Ferrogrão, and the authorization for oil exploration in the Equatorial Margin, off the coast of Amapá. In addition, speed in the approval of environmental licenses for port terminals in the region is necessary, factors that, combined, will significantly increase the demand for river convoys and maritime support vessels.
ERM’s commercial director, Fábio Vasconcellos, sees a new wave of grain river convoys to serve the Northern Arc and river convoys for ore for the Paraguay Waterway. “The pent-up demand exists due to the wait for environmental licenses for terminals and the implementation of infrastructure works, such as the blasting of the Pedral do Lourenço, for example,” he describes. Vasconcellos states that the shipyard has been making important investments in productive infrastructure for the construction of ATBs, especially in cargo handling capacity, in construction sheds for panels and blocks, and in the acquisition of equipment.”
